The Benefits of Being a Member/Owner

Credit unions are different — we’re not a bank. We’re financial cooperatives owned by our members and that’s a big reason why credit unions generally provide better benefits in the form of lower loan rates, higher savings rates and fewer fees than banks.

The Credit Union National Association (CUNA) estimates that Heartland provided $2,119,104 in direct financial benefits to our 22,638 member/owners during the twelve months ending in September 2019.

These benefits are equivalent to $94 per member or $197 per member household. These are averages but still substantial!  For example, financing a $30,000 car or truck for 60 months at Heartland will save a member nearly $900 in interest over those 5 years. Better still, the more you use the credit union for all your financial services, the more you’ll save!
